It’s been a year since we received a grant to verify the Seed Phenotyping Center services. Succeed and get support among 50 submitted projects in the call „Prototypuj a ověřuj“ 2020 was exciting! However, even greater was the joy now, at the end of the project. We are grateful for the support from BRNOmycity and JIC, thanks to their support we managed to implement our project ideas and create unique services using the high-end technology for seed phenotyping and sorting.
We have created a hitherto impossible analysis and sorting of seeds in a non-invasive way, even as small as Arabidopsis thaliana, the most commonly used model of plant genetics. And really, most of the samples analyzed during the testing phase were Arabidopsis ones. The current Phenotyping Centre throughput of 150 000 seeds/week is ideal for mid-size experiments. And how with the results? The first results were not long in coming, the scientific groups obtained interesting data during the free of charge testing period and we look forward to seeing wonderful publications.
